Back 2 the Basics — Knowing the Church, pt 4
This past Sunday we continued in our Back 2 the Basics sermon series by discussing the church. We looked at Joshua 1:1-11 where God lays out the obvious to Joshua — Moses is dead and it is now his time to lead the people of God. At that point, the Israelites had been wandering around in the wilderness for 40 years because of their grumbling and lack of faith. They even told Moses they would prefer to be back in slavery in Egypt than to die in the wilderness. So in the midst of fear and uncertainty, God instructed Joshua to be strong and courageous. It was now his time to lead. The people needed to break free of the fear of uncertainty and the comfort of the familiar in order that they could walk into the promise that God had for them. God knew that the enemy would try to come in and create a stronghold of fear and doubt, but He also knew that His people could withstand.
We are God’s people. We are His church. There are times that are filled with uncertainty, but the Lord is calling us to come together and be victorious.
